Better Water, Whole House

Central Florida’s water is hard — full of dissolved calcium and magnesium that leave scale on your fixtures, spots on your glasses, and film on your skin and hair. On well water, you may also be dealing with iron staining or a rotten-egg smell.

At Our Place Air & Home Repair, we start with a free in-home water test, then recommend the right fix — a water softener, a whole-home filter, a reverse-osmosis drinking system, or well-water treatment — with honest, upfront pricing. Need other work too? See our full plumbing services.

Water Treatment — Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a water softener or filtration system cost?
It depends on the system and your water — a standard softener is one price, while whole-home filtration, reverse osmosis, or well-water treatment vary based on what needs removing. We start with a free water test, then give you the exact price in writing before any work begins, so there are never surprises.
Do I need a water softener or a filter — what’s the difference?
A softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause hard-water scale, spots, and dry skin. A filter targets things like chlorine, sediment, iron, or taste and odor. Many Central Florida homes benefit from both. Our free test tells us which one — or which combination — your water actually needs.
What does a whole-home filtration or RO system remove?
Depending on the system, water treatment can reduce chlorine, sediment, iron, sulfur, and taste/odor issues, while a reverse-osmosis drinking system removes a much wider range of contaminants for clean water at your tap. We match the system to what your test actually finds.
How do I know if I have hard water?
Tell-tale signs are white scale on faucets and showerheads, spotty glasses and dishes, soap that won’t lather, and dry skin or hair. Central Florida’s water is naturally very hard, so most homes have it to some degree — the free test tells you exactly how hard yours is.
Can you treat well water (iron, sulfur, rotten-egg smell)?
Yes. Well water often needs iron and sulfur removal to clear up orange staining and that rotten-egg odor, and sometimes disinfection for bacteria. We test the well water and build the right treatment for it.
Is reverse osmosis worth it for drinking water?
If you want the cleanest, best-tasting drinking and cooking water, yes — a reverse-osmosis system at the kitchen sink removes far more than a basic filter. It’s a popular add-on to a whole-home softener, and we can set both up together.
Can I install a water softener myself?
You can, but it ties into your main water line (and often a drain and an outlet), and doing it wrong can cause leaks or bypass the system entirely. A licensed plumber sizes it correctly, installs it to code, and makes sure it actually treats your whole home. We handle it start to finish.
Do you repair and service existing systems?
Yes — we install new systems and also repair, service, and re-salt existing softeners and filters, whatever brand you have. And our emergency line runs 24/7 with no extra charge for nights, weekends, or holidays.
What areas do you serve?
All of Central Florida — Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Park, Lake Nona, Ocala, The Villages, Hudson, and surrounding communities.
